The Sloop Inn

We were six walking from Thurlstone hotel to the Sloop. It was busy, so our food took a while, but it was worth hanging on. The moules mariniere, fish pie, Sunday roast and fish and chips were all fantastic. We enjoyed it so much that we booked a table for a party of 10 that evening :)

The Sloop Inn was a lovely setting for our office Christmas party. It’s a gorgeous, cosy pub, and the log fire made the evening feel special, though it got a bit too hot near the hearth. If you’re there in winter, sit further back unless you fancy a sauna with your turkey! The food was beautifully cooked, portions were generous, and everyone had lovely things to say about it. The team were warm, friendly and efficient from start to finish, and nothing was too much trouble. We couldn’t fault the evening and will definitely return, perhaps in T-shirts next November. Thanks to all the staff for making the party memorable.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch, with both the fish and chips and roast pork tasting delicious. The staff were super friendly, and our food arrived really quickly. I’d recommend it.

The food didn’t feel worth the price, with peas as the only vegetables on the plate. My chicken pie was very dry, and I had to use gravy from my granddaughter’s sausage and mash. My wife had been looking forward to ribs after seeing them on the online menu, but they weren’t on the actual menu, which needs updating.
