We made the most of the hotel facilities after the sun came out, using the spa as a family and fitting in the tennis courts and golf course. There was frisbee golf too, though we didn’t have time to try it. After checking out, we left the car at the hotel and walked to the beach in about 10 minutes, a lovely end to our three-day stay. We’re hoping to return in summer for the outdoor pool and rockpool bistro. Our self-catering apartment, Bantham, had three bedrooms and was ideal for me, my wife, our two children and the dog. It was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed. We’d wanted an apartment with hotel facilities nearby, and Thurlestone suited us well. We ate at the Village Inn pub on our first night. Dinner was excellent, the kids enjoyed the children’s menu, and the prices were very reasonable. On the second night, the hotel helped us find a sitter so my wife and I could dine at the Trevilder Restaurant. All three courses were superb, especially my whole Dover sole, and the wine list was brilliant. Matthew and Lisa gave us perfect service, and it was nice to see the General Manager chatting with guests. The dinner experience matched many high-end restaurants we’ve tried, and the apartment guest discount made it great value.

The sea views here are stunning, and staying at this fabulous spa hotel felt like such a treat. It’s very dog friendly too. We’ll definitely come back.

The location is great, but we regretted spending the money. The rooms felt tired, outdated and a bit unclean, and the place was unsophisticated. It was massively overpriced. Most of the staff seemed to be holiday workers who either didn’t care or had had no training.

For my birthday, my partner treated me to a spa day and we had a great time. The facilities were clean and there was a good variety, and the hydro pool was lovely and hot. We both had massages with Kirstie, who was brilliant. Her technique and products made it one of the best massages I’ve ever had. The receptionist was really friendly too. I’d 100% recommend visiting, and can’t wait to return.
