Welcome Traveller Inn

Geoff, Babs & Sarah are such lovely hosts. We’ve been staying at the welcome traveler for years, and the rooms are always clean and tidy. The home-cooked meals are good, with generous portions for the price. It’s good value all round. See you soon, Dave & Ann-marie from Plymouth.

There’s a garden with benches on a veranda, set back from the road and looking over the car park. Inside, the place was clean, respectable and nicely spaced out. The food was prepared well, and the staff were super friendly. The carvery guy was great and made sure we were happy with the amount.

The breakfast itself was okay, but the service was awful. The cook swore at us because two boys came in with muddy boots. They had tried wiping them at the door, but that apparently wasn’t enough. We were also told we could only use one plate. When the first one had gone cold because fresh food took far too long to come out, the rude woman just rolled her eyes when I took another warm plate. I’m not impressed and definitely wouldn’t recommend the place. If work boots are a problem, provide overshoes or find another way to keep the place clean. Thanks, but no thanks.

We’re planning to recommend The Welcome Traveller to our Coasteering clients, and our stay left us impressed. It was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The reception and dining area were much bigger than we expected, almost like a tardis, and everyone got a warm welcome. Our room was clean and functional, and the food was tasty, thanks chef Geoff. We spent the evening in the small bar, which was cozy and warm, with a pool table, big screen TV and patio area. There’s also a larger bar and function room that looks ideal for weddings and other celebrations. Prices are good value, and the adventure day package includes breakfast, a packed lunch and an evening meal. Thanks, folks, we’ll certainly recommend you.
