The Trecarn Hotel

The front desk staff were very friendly, and the room was clean and tidy. The mattress was really firm, and the bedside light had an outdated socket. There wasn't anywhere to park nearby. At 09.15, breakfast was missing a lot of items. They eventually restocked, but by then it was too late.

I've stayed here before, and I'll visit again. At £39 for a Saturday night, it's hard to find somewhere as good for the price. The hotel has been refurbishing in stages, so getting an updated room can be pot luck. Ours was clean, the bathroom spotless, and the lady who checked us in was very friendly. The room could have been warmer, though it was between summer and winter and was OK for us. We also had virtually no phone signal in it.

We had an old sprung mattress that was horrible, and a loose trap door under the carpet in the middle of the room was a complete trip hazard. The hotel is in a shocking state of repair, with rooms that feel like a 1960s army barracks. During the stay, there's no cleaning service, and they only clean the room and make the beds between guests. You'll have to buy your own toilet roll and soap because those aren't restocked either. I complained, but the staff couldn't care less. There was carpet coming up in the middle of a hallway, and someone had just put a screw in it, enough to cut people's toes. Absolutely shocking. Be warned and avoid this hotel at all costs!

The food was OK, with a decent choice at breakfast and dinner, and the upgraded room was clean, though still shabby. I'd asked for a quiet room and got one. Best of all, the staff were wonderful, friendly, and keen to help. The dining room team worked their socks off and clearly enjoyed working together, which really showed. Brittania, give them a pay rise, they deserve it! 👏👏👏
