Premier Inn Manchester Altrincham

For one night away, it had what I needed: a comfy bed, working TV, fan in the room and good water pressure. The front desk staff were polite, and there’s customer parking around the back. The attached restaurant was decent, though very quiet, and had notices about limited service. Otherwise, it’s a pretty average, slightly dated Premier Inn, with squeaky floorboards and a need for some general upgrades. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆

The beds were comfortable, we slept well, and breakfast was really good. We had a family room, but the handle came off the separate bedroom door, leaving you practically trapped. The bathroom also needed some work, including repainting.

The location is really good, and it’s my second year in a row staying here. It covers the basics a bit better than other Premier Inn experiences I’ve had, and the rooms were clean, though small and outdated. What made this stay worse was a strong cigarette smell in my room. It might have been left by previous guests, or come in from people smoking outside. Either way, it was there whenever I walked in. The hotel was full, so I didn’t ask to move, since I thought the answer would probably be no. Hopefully they can renovate in future and make the experience better.

The meal deal was good, and the pub attached to the hotel had a good pint of Draught Guinness, plus a choice of lager and cider. There’s no real ale, though. I nearly didn’t book because of some bad reviews, but I’m glad I came. The outside looks a bit tatty, while it’s okay inside. Though the hotel is on a main road into Manchester, traffic was surprisingly light overnight, and our road-facing room was quiet thanks to effective acoustic double glazing. There’s no air con, but a fan is provided. We were there during one of the hottest days and nights and found it tolerable. If it’s convenient for you, go for it.
