The Anglers Retreat

It felt like a proper British pub, full of really friendly people. The person behind the bar was welcoming and sorted food out for us. If we lived close enough, this would be our local.

We went on a Sunday and had the Sunday roast, which was very good and came in a huge portion. The atmosphere was buzzing with locals and other people, and the prices were good. Loved this local English pub, and it’s dog friendly too.

We were only passing through, but we’ll be back. It’s a lovely, homely pub with a friendly atmosphere and good, honest pub grub. The locals are fun, and, above all, they know how to cater for coeliacs. Thanks 🙏

I went to a Soul Night event here, but there was nothing soulful about the experience. The bouncers and managers were extremely rude and tried to intimidate me. As a young woman, I felt unsafe when they separated me from the group I was with and took me around a corner. One bouncer got in my face, pointed at me and shouted, accusing me of things that hadn’t happened. I stayed calm and tried to speak calmly. I’d strongly avoid this place if you’re a young group of women, as the bouncers and staff were rude and made me feel unsafe by singling me out and taking me off alone.
