Mannings Hotel

The building is old, but it was kept very clean and presentable, and the staff were polite and helpful. We stayed in top floor room 42, where the floor slopes quite a bit, so take care if you've had a drink. The location worked well for a show at the Hall for Cornwall and for shopping around Truro. We enjoyed a drink in the bar after the show, and the food and drinks were very nice, though not the cheapest. Continental breakfast comes with the stay, but a cooked breakfast costs extra. For the price, I think that should have been included. Still, it was a very pleasant experience.

We could park securely for free and leave the car before check-in, which was handy. The hotel has no lift, and the bar shuts early during the week. Although cocktails are advertised for the evening, they're only available at weekends. The food was good, including an early express menu for theatre-goers. Our room and bathroom were clean and nicely decorated, and the hotel is in a good location.

We dropped in last night hoping for a small plate of food and a glass of wine. The place was full and the staff were clearly rushed, but they were cheerful and welcoming throughout. They first offered us the last seats in the bar, then found us a table very quickly. Our food and drinks arrived fast and were both very good. Thanks for looking after us so well, highly recommended.

The staff at the Manning's Hotel were brilliant and made the stay okay. The beds were comfortable, but the rooms feel dated. I dislike shower curtains, so I wasn't keen on the shower over the bath. The receptionist kindly moved us to room 30, which had a shower, but there was no lift and we had lots of stairs. Breakfast could offer better options in the price, and the rooms really need modernising. A lift would help too. The toilet paper was very cheap. I wouldn't return unless some changes were made. The hotel is trying to present itself as something it's not, more like a 3-star place than a 5-star one.
