The Whitehouse Inn

We paid for two nights before seeing the room, and regretted it. The hotel was filthy and unhygienic. The room was dusty and uncomfortable, and the mattress had a hole. We told them the next day, after arriving in Cornwall for a funeral, and asked for the second night’s money back so we could leave. They wouldn’t answer our calls, so we left and stayed elsewhere. The hotel was completely empty, and our room didn’t look like the one shown online. They gave our dog a treat so sharp it made him bleed and nearly choke. When we spoke by phone and in person, they kept trying to negotiate the room price. We should have taken those signs seriously. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We had a fun evening here with very good friends. The Italian food was excellent, and the proprietor did everything possible to make us happy. Great food at this recently reopened place.

I stayed here recently for work and couldn’t fault the service. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, and my room was large, comfortable and clean. Dinner was great, breakfast was spot on, and the atmosphere was relaxed. A really good place to stay.

It’s now called Zucchini Italian Restaurant and lodge. They’re working hard to do up the place.
