Nearly everyone cleaned their plates, and there was plenty to eat: tender meat, vegetables cooked just right, and a superb roast all round. Our group of 18 had a fabulous meal. We’d arranged our orders ahead of time, and the replies when I contacted them to book were quick, friendly, and efficient. After a soggy walk we got to the pub early, and they were kind enough to seat us half an hour before our time. Niamh was a friendly waitress and made everything run smoothly. Thank you, we’ll definitely be back.

The Cowdray Arms in Balcombe sources its produce locally, and I liked seeing the company names on the pub blackboard. Our Sunday roast was good value, with excellent quality and generous portions, and the service was very attentive. We had the last sitting at 6pm, as the pub closes early on Sundays. It’s listed as being in Balcombe, but sits about a mile from the centre, so it isn’t walkable. We’d eat here again.

We picked this place for my 70th birthday lunch with family because we’d eaten here several times before and always had a good experience. We were glad we chose it again. All 11 of us, including four children, enjoyed the food and the friendly, efficient service. It was a fantastic lunch.

The roast was cooked just right, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Friendly, polite service made the meal even better. I had an exquisite dining experience today, 8th March 2026, and I’ll definitely return. Highly recommended!

The cottage-style rooms were superb, and ours was warm with a clean bathroom. Check-in was really easy, and being let in a little early helped us a lot after heading here for a stay following a wedding. Breakfast came on a lovely tray, and it’s a lovely place in general.
