Star Hotel

We’d just come back from a last-minute stay at the Star Hotel and were very happy with it. The room was modern, clean and comfortable, and the hotel was dog friendly. We wanted somewhere peaceful but still central to the area we were exploring, so the location suited us well. The hosts were incredibly helpful, the locals were friendly, and breakfast was very generous.

The breakfast was delicious and came without any fuss, and the pub had a warm, welcoming feel. The landlord and landlady went out of their way to help us. Storm Amy had put an end to our camping plans, so we rang The Star Hotel Twynholme at the last minute and were welcomed straight away. Our room was lovely and tidy, with everything we needed. We’ll definitely come back.

The food was delicious, and the room was clean and comfortable, just right for what we needed. We stayed one night and got a lovely welcome.

After making my way home the next day, I was glad I’d had such a fantastic breakfast first. I’d definitely return and stay longer. I’d booked a room at the Star hotel so I could go to an event in Wigtown and avoid the 100 mile drive home afterward. Driving there straight from work meant I didn’t arrive to check in until after 9pm, but my hosts were wonderfully accommodating. When I asked about local takeaways, they even offered to cook me dinner. I found a bag of chips in the neighbouring village, then had a fun night in the hotel bar chatting with some lovely locals. My room was warm, very clean and comfortable, with a good shower and a really comfy bed. It had everything I needed for one night away.
