The cottage at 47 Lakeland Village had great facilities and views, but we booked seven days and had to leave after three because we couldn’t get warm. We spent the days out and went to bed at 7 in the evening, sometimes sitting wrapped in duvets. When inside trying to relax, we blocked the patio and lounge doors with cushions and furniture. We knew electricity was charged separately. The heaters weren’t working to a satisfactory standard, the meter was running high, and we decided to go home. The final bill was £75.39 for about 15 hours of very low heating, four showers, one dishwasher use, one washing machine use, kettle use and minimal lighting. I complained. The manager said he’d look into it and get the cottage equipment appraised, but I’ve heard nothing further and it seems my email is being ignored. If you book, be aware of the meter readings at no. 47.

The house at Lakeland Village was stunning, with lovely surprises like a sauna and a real fireplace. I stayed with friends last weekend, and Richard and his team went above and beyond for our group. I’d definitely return and would have no hesitation recommending it.

We just wanted somewhere to relax, and this was a lovely, spacious apartment in a very quiet location. It worked well as a base.

Waking up to the River Levens from the cottages and apartments was a real treat. We stayed five nights with our dog at the end of January and beginning of February, and got a very good price because we booked only three days ahead, though the time of year may have helped too. The one-bedroom dog-friendly cottage was spotless, cosy and had what we needed for a short break, from a hairdryer to a full set of kitchen equipment. The bedroom was a great size, with a floor-to-ceiling window for the view and a little table and chairs. Breakfast there one morning was interrupted by a low-flying Typhoon right over us, which nearly gave me a heart attack! 🤣 One thing to consider before booking: we were only told after reserving that dogs couldn’t go on the furniture or upstairs. We didn’t visit The Whitewater Hotel next door. My husband popped in to ask about dogs and was told, quite firmly, that “no ANIMALS are allowed!!!”, so we didn’t go back. For food and drink, The Swan Hotel and Newby Bridge Hotel are about 1.5 miles away. We’d definitely recommend The Huntsmans Inn at the Newby Bridge Hotel. Otherwise, you’re looking at a drive to Windermere or Ulverston. A lovely, peaceful stay, and I’d love to return.

The apartment had everything we needed, and the views were fantastic. The cleaners did an outstanding job, and the staff service was excellent.
