A family member recommended this place, and it didn’t disappoint. We came for the roast: I had the beef and my wife chose chicken, then wished she’d had mine. The beef was top notch, the potatoes and vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the Yorkshire pudding was excellent. We’ll be back 100%. No photo of the beef, it didn’t hang around 😋. We didn’t stay, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

We live nearby and will definitely come back more often. The Sunday roast is the best around, with all the trimmings, generous portions of tender, succulent, flavourful meat, which is rare in the Lakes. The creamy mushroom starter was amazing too. Lovely cosy, friendly atmosphere, and I love their social media presence.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we came in until we left an hour and a half later. It was Sunday, so my husband had the lamb roast and I had beef. Everything was cooked perfectly, and there was plenty of gravy, which was a lovely change. I took half of mine home for lunch the next day. We’ll definitely be back.

A very nice dinner, with fresh, well-cooked Cumberland sausage and mash, steak and ale pie with loads of gravy, and fish and chips. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and Guinea’s was very good. Recommended.

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Royal Oak on Mothering Sunday. All four of us enjoyed the tasty, well-cooked meal, with plenty of delicious gravy. There was a nice roaring fire, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We’d recommend it and will be back.
