The garden and underfloor heating were the only positives for me. The place has a lot of potential, but the house is terribly dated and needs renovation. I had the smallest bedroom, and there were Pringles and hairbands scattered under the beds. In the bathroom, the toilet water was brown with a scuzzy layer on top, there was a half-used bar of soap in the shower, thick dust on the window, and mould in the shower. The bedroom window seal had come off, a lamp was missing bulbs, the walls had cracks covered with mismatched paint, and there was a huge carpet stain. The rest of the house was much the same: stained rugs in the living room, cobwebs everywhere, filthy crockery and broken equipment. The upstairs floorboards squeaked, so we had to tiptoe to avoid waking the children and other guests. The front door couldn’t be deadlocked. There was a baby gate at the top of the stairs but none at the bottom, which made having it there pointless.

We’ve just returned from a great long weekend at Webbs Retreat. Our group of eight all found the house cosy and spacious, and the kitchen was very well equipped. We had a lovely time and would go back.

We stayed for a family get-together and found this holiday home well equipped. There was plenty of kitchen gear to cook a roast dinner for eight, and the beach was within walking distance. The location was good.

A lovely holiday home on Roserrow, in an ideal spot for golf at The Point and a visit to Polzeath Beach.

The location is great, and the exterior looks very nice, but the accommodation was advertised as luxury and felt tired and dated inside, with 1990s decor. It needed a deep clean. We contacted Cornwall hideaways about the problems, but not everything was resolved, and we felt they were treating us as if we were lying. The main problems were stained mattresses and a broken spring in the double mattress. After 15 email exchanges and 3 phone calls, we still felt accused of making it up, which was very insulting. As two families, we think the property hasn’t been updated since it was built. The owner needs to stop being greedy and bring it into the 2021 era. It’s a shame, because we’d love to return, but not while it’s in this tired, dated state.
