The pub and grill was spacious, the food was great, and service came without a wait. The pool was big too, a perfect spot for the kids to swim and burn off some energy. Our stay was fabulous, with amazing newly refurbished bedrooms and outstanding staff, including Dan and Elana. Highly recommend.

I stayed at the Village Hotel in Walsall in December of 2025 for a work training event and meeting. I’ll likely be back in six months, so it’ll be interesting to see what has changed. The front desk and pool facilities were the best part, both 5/5. Reception staff were welcoming, friendly, and happy to help. A few times they also helped the restaurant by booking guests in for breakfast. From the car park, the entrance is easy to find, with stairs and a sloped access. The pool is a wonderful size, with fast and slow lanes plus an area for casual swimming. There’s also a cold, button-operated jacuzzi with powerful jets, a hot tub with gentler jets that run on a timer, a sauna, and a steam room. Pool staff were really helpful and observant, and regularly carried out pool tests. The room was a 3/5. It was a comfortable size, as was the bathroom, but be careful with the hot tap because it gets hot. The basics were fine: clean sheets, wiped mirrors, empty bins. But it wasn’t one of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed in, and the vacuuming and dusting need more attention. The beds weren’t made well. I had to pull off the sheet and mattress protector just to get into bed because they weren’t tucked in. The glasses are plastic, and the striped decor was an eyesore to me. The restaurant was more like 2/5, though the buffalo chicken wings were great. Ordering can be done by phone or at the bar, to your room or with payment there. The food tasted below standard even though the presentation was fantastic. The pizza tasted like a frozen oven pizza, the curry had little flavour, and the sticky toffee pudding wasn’t as sweet as expected. The oat flour cookie was quite stodgy. Breakfast only had scrambled eggs, and the bacon was no bueno. The staff seemed unmotivated and uninterested, a big change from the hospitality elsewhere in the hotel. They came across like miserable robots on autopilot.

We were a big group, 8 adults and 9 kids, celebrating a birthday over two nights at Village Hotel Walsall. The team looked after us very well, and the service was perfect. Breakfast and evening meals were varied, hot, and wonderful. The rooms were clean, there was plenty of hot water, and the whole stay was superb. Many thanks to the hardworking, friendly team.

After three months away from swimming because of a shoulder injury, I returned to Walsall Village Leisure Centre still feeling some discomfort. Jon from the Leisure Team gave me useful advice about the injury, along with tips for gradually getting the joint moving and building strength without adding discomfort. I really appreciated his help. He’s a very knowledgeable and helpful member of the team. Thank you, Anita Essex

Carrie at the front desk gave especially great service, and I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was okay, though I didn’t like the hash browns being steamed with the mushrooms because they went soggy. The traffic on the Birmingham New Road was a nightmare.
