The Rifle Volunteer

For a budget overnight stay, it’s pretty much ideal. The room was small and basic, but clean, everything worked, and the price was very reasonable with breakfast included. It was quiet despite being above a pub. The bed was comfortable, the TV was good and the shower worked fine. Breakfast was very good too. There’s no full English, which is fair enough at this price, but they have hot eggs and a very good continental spread. Recommended.

We really loved our stay and would happily come back next time we’re in the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room had the basics like tea and coffee, a kettle and an iron. Breakfast was relaxed, with cereals, toast, crumpets, fruit, eggs, cheese and ham. The quiet location is close to amenities and public transport. The staff and owner were absolutely fabulous, so friendly and kind. Highly recommend!

I stayed in the Nightingale Room for a work event. It was clean and did the job well, though it was a bit noisy at night, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs. Also, remember to bring your own hair dryer. The owner was very nice and hospitable. He greeted us at the pub and made us feel welcome.

A perfect spot for drinks and bar food. I stayed overnight and found all the facilities good. The location is great, with a short walk into town and easy access to a country walk. Moles farm was a 25-minute stroll away for my friends’ party. Thanks!
