The location is lovely, and the house has so much history. We found the staff warm and welcoming, and breakfast was generous and delicious. There’s a good evening menu too. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of equipment, though you can see some wear and tear.

We had lunch here on Saturday 13th Sept, 2025. The staff out front were pleasant, but the food let it down. The vegetables were pretty average, the gravy tasted like instant granules, and the pie pastry was soft, as if it had been reheated in a microwave. It’s a shame. This could be a lovely restaurant, but it felt like the chef may have lost their passion.

We were right on the high street in a proper 16th century coaching house. Our room felt comfortable, with updates that suited the old building. The food service was wonderful, and you can buy cakes to take away. Perfect.

Stopped in for a cup of tea and cake. The place has a cosy, old-fashioned feel, and the carrot cake was delicious. Tea was nice too.

We turned up for lunch without booking and had a great meal. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced, with good service and a nice atmosphere. The building is ancient, dating back to 1590. I even sat in the seat where Lawrence of Arabia once sat. He lived in the town and is buried there. I’d recommend this place.
