The location really suited us: step outside and you’re among Watchet’s shops and pubs, right in the middle of town. The cottage has two bedrooms, bathrooms on both floors, and a great kitchen-living room with recliners and French doors opening onto a small, handy yard. There’s also a secure courtyard behind coded gates. A few tweaks would help: the windows could open further, fans would be useful in warm weather, and the pretty bedroom blinds don’t block much light. A small welcome pack would be a nice touch. Still, I’d recommend staying here, just bring your own fans in summer.

Sykes were very poor at communicating. They made promises to get back to us and didn’t, despite having plenty of chances. Number 9 Malthouse Court also needs a lot of cleaning and maintenance. There were marks on the walls and the outside needed attention. Both door-hold-open hooks were broken, the front door was flaking, and the cutlery drawer hadn’t been cleaned. There was dirt and dust in the room corners, damage by the shower, and several other things that needed work.

The cottage was cosy, well equipped and dog friendly, right in the middle of Watchet near the harbour, shops and pubs. A hairdryer would have been a useful extra.

You’ll find pretty much everything you need in this well-equipped cottage, and the owner has looked after it nicely. It’s cosy too, though the second bedroom is too small for a couple. The door latches also make a bit of noise at night.

We had a really enjoyable week and would happily book again. The host was attentive throughout, and the comfortable, well-equipped cottage is right in central Watchet, within walking distance of the shops, harbour and some excellent pubs.
