West Somerset Hotel

The food was great and really good value, and the place had a friendly, nice feel to it. We came in to eat and the landlord was lovely, clearly appreciative of our custom. They’d been let down by their supplier on a few items, so when our baguette arrived without coleslaw, he apologised and insisted on sending someone across the road to get some. We said he didn’t need to, but he did it anyway. A thoughtful touch that showed he values his customers. The guy behind the bar was very welcoming too. We left full and happy we’d picked this place over the others in town, and we’ll be back.

We called at short notice, just before the kitchen closed, to ask if we could come down for an evening meal with Mum. They gave us a wonderful welcome, the food and atmosphere were great, and the service was fab. Mum loved it, and we’ll definitely pop in again.

The rooms are quite adequate and very affordable, and the food is amazing. Fresh, tasty, homemade lasagne, easily five stars, and probably the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had. Portions are generous and prices are good. A big thank you to new owners Chris, John & their fab team for making The West Somerset such a warm, friendly place to stay, eat and drink. We look forward to staying again, from The Boat people.

The new staff were so polite and on point, and there’s a good selection of beers and ales too. The food was absolutely banging, piping hot, with really good portions. Definitely going again!
