I’d enjoyed this refurbished bar before, but tonight was a letdown. We got our drinks and then our main meal, and after that we were left on our own. Nobody checked how the food was. I’d ordered medium and it came well done, and we couldn’t get anyone to take another drink order. After our plates were cleared, we waited 15 minutes, then had to leave the table and pay on the way out. Very disappointing.

The food and how it was presented were good, but the rest of the visit was disappointing. We had booked an 8pm table and the kitchen closed at 8.30, so we had to hurry our food and drinks order and couldn’t get dessert. I was out for my birthday and would have booked earlier if I’d known. Someone said I should have been called that day, but when I showed my call log, there was no call. We kept having to ask for things like cutlery and water. I’m guessing the man serving us was new. Nobody was rude, though the staff weren’t particularly friendly either. It seemed like everyone was a bit muddled about the new closing hours.

We had a great night for a friend’s birthday. Poppy and Lexi were our waitresses and gave fantastic service. The food was great, the atmosphere was lovely, and we couldn’t fault the evening. Thanks to everyone.

A clean, comfortable and roomy suite, and much cheaper than booking three hotel rooms for us and the kids. Really handy place to stay before catching a Portsmouth ferry!
