The Quay Bed & Breakfast

The lounge had a cosy, comfortable feel and a lovely relaxed vibe. We often used the free coffee-making facilities there, a great idea. Room one was just right for our three-night stay at the Quay. The location was excellent, and Will and Tina were perfect hosts. We've just got home and would definitely stay again.

There's a nice lounge with tables where you can bring a takeaway to eat, and several great pubs are less than five minutes away on foot. It's a lovely place in a great location, with on-street parking along the road or a reasonably priced car park just up the road. Our only disappointment was that breakfast had been included when we booked, but the policy changed without notice. We were given £20 for two people and had to go out for breakfast and bring it back because we had dogs. Magpies bakery opens at 8am and was excellent. Otherwise, five stars.

The top floor has beams you'll keep hitting your head on if you're over 5ft 9" tall. The place feels like a hostel, yet is extremely overpriced. Our booking confirmation clearly said BREAKFAST INCLUDED, but all they left was a £10 note each. I booked well ahead, so they had plenty of time to email me about the change and give me the chance to cancel. There was no excuse for that. They also said they'd text the entry instructions two days before we arrived, but didn't. With nobody on site, we were left at the door trying to get an answer by phone. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

My room was airy, spotless and clean, and everything was provided. The location is great, with a bus stop right outside.
