The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. Our chalet was just right, with an extremely comfortable bed and an excellent double shower. We both thought this was one of the best hotel stays we've had, and I'll definitely come back. The food was superb: I had the handmade steak, shallot and Guinness pie, and my wife enjoyed the beer-battered haddock and chips with mushy peas, saying the crisp batter was among the best she'd tasted. It's a lovely traditional country pub with a good beer selection. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff, and everyone helped make our stay memorable. Thank you all.
My burger was good, but the fish my husband got with his fish and chips was much smaller than the impressive portions we'd seen at lunchtime. We mentioned it to the woman clearing our table. We'd come in for a drink earlier, then booked dinner after seeing what other people were eating. Years ago, when we knew the people who ran this beautiful pub and garden, the staff seemed friendlier. It doesn't feel the same now, which is a shame. I should have ordered a pie!
It felt great to have an evening in a proper pub, with friendly service and a really relaxing atmosphere. The food was spot on. My burger, topped with "Norfolk Alpine cheese", was one of the best I've had. I've never been to the Norfolk Alps, but the cheese was excellent. The local homemade pie was delicious with spring vegetables, and the traditional local desserts finished dinner perfectly. We were camping nearby, though the accommodation looks excellent too, and we're already planning to return.
My friend and I stayed for a few nights and were made to feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere and friendliness were amazing, and the food was top class. Breakfast had everything you could want. It was all clean and lovely, well supplied with everything we needed, and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, and the heating was put on when the day turned cold. A positive attitude came through in everything. The location is good too, away from noise but only a short drive from the Norfolk coast, with parking. I can recommend it completely. You won't be disappointed.
We really enjoyed our stay in this proper old pub. The room was very nice, the restaurant and breakfast food were good, and the atmosphere was friendly. Most of the staff and customers seemed to be local people. It was early January, so we missed out on the lovely beer garden and its own bar. The one gripe was that the EV charger didn't seem to connect to the Fuuse network, so we couldn't use it. That would've been a real convenience for us, though it was outside the pub's control. Dog friendly, too.
