Breakfast was delicious, and the hotel had a quiet, peaceful feel. The former stable has been renovated in a cottage style, with comfortable rooms and bathrooms, and the grounds include a golf course. It was a little tricky to find our way in, but once we arrived, receptionist Francesca patiently and kindly showed us where to go. I’d definitely stay again if I get the chance.

The staff made us feel very welcome at check-in, and the breakfast was really nice. The rooms are lovely, with amazing countryside views, in a beautiful spot by a golf course near Welwyn garden city. I didn’t try dinner, but would recommend it for a quiet, comfortable stay, with the option of a round of golf.

The room was clean, but looked like it needed repairs. The carpets had a lot of stains, and the curtains wouldn’t close all the way. The beds looked luxurious, but turned out to be two singles pushed together, and the mattresses were uncomfortably firm. There were also cracked bathroom tiles that could be a small tripping hazard. We had trouble finding reception when we arrived.

A beautiful setting and a fabulous room, with a spacious bathroom and an extra-large bath. We arrived in the evening, which made things tricky for the taxi driver. Best to get there in daylight 😀

The golf club bar and lounge food was pretty mediocre. The burger was dry and not very tasty, the coffee was almost cold, and the chocolate brownie was tiny.
