The Crown Hotel

The hotel was clean and reasonably priced, and the staff were generally polite. The rooms were clean, though dated. Since it’s a budget hotel, I didn’t expect everything to be perfect, but the shower pressure was practically nonexistent. I was told Weymouth has low water pressure, though hot water pressure in a hotel could surely be improved. Noise from the room above was another issue: we could clearly hear their TV until midnight. Better sound insulation might help.

The free WiFi was a welcome bonus and let me stream Netflix on my tablet without any problems. The room was clean and the bed was good. Staff were excellent, and the breakfast and dinner were good, though some choices baffled me, like serving roast beef with gravy already on it instead of letting guests pour from a gravy boat. I was there with a social group for a Friday-to-Monday weekend. I skipped the shower after hearing from others it took ages to warm up and had poor pressure; even the cold tap seemed to struggle. The lift is small and the stairways are a maze, but I suppose that comes with an older hotel. The resident entertainment was mixed: Friday and Sunday were good, while several of us went to the public bar for entertainment on Saturday. A 4/5 seems fair.

There’s a lot to see and do around Weymouth, including a lovely circular walk by the marina and harbour that takes under an hour, with good shops and pubs along the way. The hotel is right by the historic harbour, in a central spot. Customer service was second to none, and room service was just as good. Our bags were taken to the room and then back to the coach at the end of the trip. Weymouth has more to it than you might expect.

I brought a coach party here, and everything from start to finish was amazing. The staff were professional, pleasant and helpful, and our rooms were warm, clean and very nice. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Weymouth.
