The Cumberland

Mark was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the little details around the hotel made the stay feel thoughtful. There were plenty of extra towels, bottled water, sweet treats and even binoculars in the drawer. Breakfast was delicious and well prepared, and a hot shower felt great after a long day. Our main gripes were the beds, which could have been more comfortable, and some road noise from the busy seafront between 10 pm and midnight. Those were minor issues alongside a very enjoyable stay. I’d recommend it to anyone after a warm welcome and careful attention to detail.

The Cumberland’s seafront position made it easy to enjoy Weymouth. The beach is across the road, and the town centre, harbour, station and attractions are all a five to ten minute walk away. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, especially around the harbour. We had a lovely seafood meal at Seabeats, close to the hotel. The hosts were kind and friendly, and breakfast was excellent, with cereals, juice, fruit, yoghurt and a cooked meal made to order. We booked online without a problem, and booking direct with the hotel was cheaper than using third party sites. Our family of three stayed for a weekend in a clean, comfortable family room with a double bed, single bed, sofa bed, en suite bath and shower, and tea and coffee facilities. It was hot in the summer, and there was no fan, though the window opened. Parking nearby gets very busy, but the hotel provides guest permits for the bays at no cost, which we used. We really enjoyed Weymouth and the Cumberland was a perfect base for the trip.

The room was very clean, and we had a warm welcome from Mark. Breakfast had lots of choice and was lovely. We had a lovely stay, though a fridge would have been handy that weekend. The shower was also awkward to use because adjusting the temperature was difficult.

Mark and Claire were perfect hosts, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms felt modern and were very clean, with a nice smell as soon as you walked in. The location worked well too, just minutes from both the train and bus stations. Couldn’t ask for more.
