Best Western Gibside Hotel

The staff were brilliant, especially Joy, Michael and Johnny, who looked after us and helped make our wedding day feel perfect. We held the ceremony and wedding breakfast at the Gibside Hotel, and the Strathmore room looked beautiful. The food was excellent, and we'd definitely recommend the hotel for a wedding or another celebration. We're looking forward to coming back for the award-winning Sunday lunch. We had a superior room, though it didn't feel superior to me. Breakfast would have been 10/10 if they'd made my bacon crispy, as I asked over two days. I don't like undercooked bacon.

We arrived at the Gibside Hotel at 9pm after a terrible meal in Newcastle for a family birthday, and Kelly in the bar turned the evening around. She was so kind, served delicious strawberry daiquiris, lit our cake and brought it out while the Happy Birthday song played. Amazing customer service, thank you 💖

I came in for a pint last week and got something closer to an ice cream, there was so much froth. At those outrageous drink prices, you'd think the place was the Dorchester Hotel. From the reviews, it sounds a million miles from there. Bed bugs and hairs in rooms sound vile, and a pal says his toilet hadn't even been flushed, with a 💩 still in it. It's in a decent central location, handy for someone like me coming from out of town, but I'm not impressed. I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

A great find for the price. The hotel is in an excellent spot for the town centre and train, and the room was large, open and had a fabulous view. It was spotlessly clean. There's parking in front, and if that's full, the car park across the way is cheap. Breakfast is served and very tasty.
