The harbour view was lovely, and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in the UK. The rooms are big, though modest and a bit worn, and the beds are comfortable. Very friendly staff and great value.

The place has character and the rooms are clean and spacious, but it felt expensive for what was provided. There was no staff around, no breakfast despite it being advertised, and only one towel per person, with no hand towels or face cloths. We had one power point, tucked behind the bed, so I had to move the bed to charge our devices. The Wi-Fi was weak and intermittent, and facilities were limited. Beds were average. It felt more like a hostel or Airbnb than a guesthouse, which is fine if that's what you're expecting. It seems to be trading on reviews from better days.

The Scottish breakfast was filling and nice, and the building had plenty of character. I may just have been unlucky, but the room was musty and not very clean. The window wouldn't stay open, and the place could have used a thorough clean.

The room was large and had a good view, and it was an easy walk into Wick or over to the Old Pulteney Distillery. The welcome was really friendly, and breakfast was tasty with a generous portion.

We really enjoyed this stop on our John O Groats to Lands End trip. The room was massive, the staff were properly lovely, and breakfast was good.
