It's in an ideal spot, with dining just outside, and I know it's a cheap hotel. Still, being cheap should mean fewer luxuries, not poor cleanliness. We felt dirty staying here, and the room standards were incredibly low. You could make do for one night if you really need somewhere cheap, but I wouldn't stay again. The place needs a major refurbishment, or at least a deep clean and maintenance. The bathroom sink plug kept sealing shut so we couldn't open it. Staff said it was a common problem and hit it with a metal pole, but it got stuck again, and no one came when we asked for help. The toilet also went through spells when it wouldn't flush. There was mould and rust in the bathroom, and the seals on the poor quality windows were mouldy. We could hear every sound through them. There was dust built up in the carpet where it was harder to hoover, rubbish left by previous guests under the bed, footprints and what looked like dribbles on the walls, plus brown marks like food on the kettle and mugs. The curtains weren't blackout, which I can accept as a luxury, but there were no plug sockets near the bed either.

Kasey made my elderly mother's Christmas visit feel warm and welcoming. She was friendly, attentive, and looked after her, making sure she had a comfortable downstairs room because stairs are difficult for her. My mother felt special. It's a two star hotel, but it was clean, had an en suite, and gave her a comfortable night's sleep. The location was perfect for her needs, since she just wanted a place to sleep and her own space at night.

I needed somewhere at short notice while my husband was in hospital, and this place was fine for that. The reception ladies were really nice and helpful, and check-in was easy. The room was cold even with the heating turned up to maximum. I was also disturbed by the entry system beeping as people came and went and the door banging shut, because of where my room was. The bath seals are black and need replacing. There was no hairdryer in the room, but reception had one. Its button was held in with Sellotape, though it did work.

The bathroom let the room down a bit. The floor was very dusty, the sink was cracked, and the toilet wasn't as clean as I'd expect. But the room was lovely, the bed very comfy, and the staff at this Travelodge were welcoming and friendly, happy to help with anything. For what we paid for two nights, it was a real bargain.

Karen at the desk was lovely, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. The room was cleaned and serviced by Erin, top service. I booked this place because it was an hour from my destination and would break up a three-hour journey. It was nice, quiet, and clean.
