The setting by the River Mersey, right beneath the Silver Jubilee bridge, is cracking, and there’s a real community feel inside. This was my first visit, to see and hear The Voice of Whitney, and what a fantastic act. Good range of beers and wines, with prices that feel like they belong ten years ago. Definitely coming back.

We only popped in for a quick pint and something to eat while passing, but stayed right through to closing. The food and beer were great value, and the manager and bar staff were friendly. The beer garden and outdoor stage look like they’ll be lovely when the weather’s warmer. We’ll come back.

There’s loads going on here: a games room, a sports bar, a separate music room, two quieter rooms, another bar, and an outdoor stage for summer events. The artwork covering the pub walls is brilliant. Food is delicious and freshly made, the beer is good, and the staff make it a relaxed, fun place. The night manager was great and the owner is really nice, with a good, safe atmosphere for all ages. A pub, arts venue and hotel all in one, and well worth a visit.

The Snig has had a place in my heart for 15 years. Brad has freshened the place up, and with Joseph Holts Manchester Brewery involved there’s a fine selection of bevvies too.
