Hedgehog Meadows

We got back from hedgehog meadows yesterday and already want to return. The cottage was amazing and had everything we needed. There’s a big TV and DVD player in the living room, another TV in the bedroom, loads of DVDs, tourist books and leaflets, plus indoor and outdoor games. There’s so much to look at inside, and it’s very well cared for. We were amazed, it’s even better than the pictures. Outside, there’s a big garden with a BBQ and firepit, and sheep, horses and goats as neighbours. The owners were lovely and came to check on us on our last night. The cottage is really quiet and in a great location, with lots to do nearby and easy access to the Lake District and Scotland. We had a great day exploring Dumfries and Galloway. We’d highly recommend it and will definitely stay again. We could quite easily live there. Couldn’t fault it at all.

The quiet and comfort here are hard to beat, with only the cattle, sheep, goats and horses in the neighbouring fields looking on. We had tea, coffee, toast and soft drinks ready for us, and the hosts were lovely to chat with. Ollie, the Bichon thug, had a good run in the paddock and slept under the bunks at night. There’s plenty to do nearby, and if you stay in, there are games, TV, DVDs, a stereo and a BBQ. This was our third visit, and we’ve booked again for September after coming back in May 2023 and finding it just as good as our 2022 stay. We’ll be back next year too. Top marks, as always.

A characterful cottage with everything you could want, and really welcoming hosts. It’s just the spot for switching off and relaxing. I’ll be back.

The owners have paid attention to all the little details, and it feels welcoming as soon as you step inside. The lodge is lovely and has everything you need, plus a bit more. I’m definitely coming back.
