The Nog Inn

That Bakewell Tart with Blackberry Clotted Cream ice cream was perfect, and we’re still remembering it! We had a lovely Saturday night at The Nog Inn and were glad we found this place. Room 1 was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a large, luxurious bathroom. Dinner was delicious, all three courses each, and there was a good choice of wines and beers. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. Breakfast was lovely too, with yoghurt, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, toast, and a full English. I have food allergies and felt very welcome, which was especially reassuring. We’d definitely stay again when travelling in the West Country. The food and accommodation were both top notch.

William and Amy made us feel welcome and looked after us throughout our stay. They were warm, attentive hosts, and that personal touch really added to the visit. The old inn has plenty of character, and its bar is beautiful. Our room was lovely, with a roomy, thoughtfully designed en suite. The bed was so comfortable, and the bathroom’s motion-sensor lighting was handy. There were lots of nice details too: reliable WiFi, a coffee machine and kettle, a selection of tea and coffee, cookies, comfortable robes, and even an umbrella. Breakfast was delicious, and they followed our requests carefully, especially with the poached eggs cooked just as we’d asked. We had a fantastic stay and would gladly return. The owners, William and Amy, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We were going to Wincanton races and stayed one night. My husband wasn’t well, so they let us check in early and leave late. The room was lovely, with a beautiful en suite, a bath, and a large shower. We enjoyed a drink in the sunny beer garden, then had a beautiful steak dinner and dessert. Breakfast was a great full English. Thanks for all your hard work, it was much appreciated. We’d recommend staying here and hope to come back soon.

A proper British pub and the best in town, in my view. It’s got a warm feel, wood fires, and tasteful decor. The beer garden’s improved a lot over the past few years and gets plenty of sun in the warmer months. There’s a decent range of beers and ciders, including non-alcoholic options, and the menu is good. The service is friendly. They’ll put sport on the telly if you want it, but it doesn’t take over the pub :)
