The area was very quiet, and there’s a pub and a McDonald’s just a minute’s walk away. The beds were comfy, and we’d stay here again if we were travelling that way. We had two rooms, though the one on the top floor was boiling hot. The hotel opened the window, closed the curtains, and left a fan, but it was still too hot. The ground-floor room was much cooler. There’s a vending machine, but £3.00 for a 500ml bottle of water is expensive. It’s a shame there isn’t a water fountain for refilling bottles.

Sarah at reception is the reason I’d come back to Travelodge Wincanton. I expected the usual basics from a budget hotel, a clean room, a comfy bed, and an easy check-in. The property delivered those, but Sarah made the stay memorable. I had trouble connecting to the WiFi, which mattered because I needed to stay in touch for work and let family know I’d arrived safely. Sarah patiently walked me through the setup, step by step. She didn’t rush me or make me feel like a bother, and got it sorted with a smile. She was warm from the moment I arrived, greeting me with a genuine smile that made me feel welcome. Check-in was smooth, and her attentiveness showed how much care she puts into her work. She’s a credit to the Travelodge brand and a real asset to the Wincanton team. Please recognise what a great staff member you have in Sarah. She went above and beyond, and it made all the difference. Highly recommend, and I’ll absolutely return. Thank you, Sarah! 🙏

At over £120.00, I expected more. There’s no restaurant linked to the hotel, and the place next door served plastic food. The room was clean and modern, but had no soul. The shower was spotless and modern, though it’s modular, and water only dribbled from the fixed shower head. If you just need a bed and don’t mind some noise, it might be OK. I’d stay again only if I couldn’t find anything else nearby and had an appointment in the area the next day.

It’s cheap and did the job, but the wet dog smell, which other reviews mention, is hard to get past. The amenities are very basic. The beds were comfy, and you can enjoy a cup of tea with limescale in it, made by a kettle that seems not to have been cleaned in five years. I can’t complain too much since it was cheap. Just leave Woofie a biscuit for his next stay.

What a farce at check-in. I arrived at 1300hrs and asked whether my room was ready. Reception said it was, but when I asked to go in and leave our bags, they refused because I hadn’t paid the £15 early check-in fee. They told me to come back at 1500hrs. I’d requested an accessible room, but the beds were only 2’6” wide. When I sat on mine, it rolled across the floor because the casters had no brakes. The hotel is a shambles and needs refurbishing, and the staff need retraining.
