We were warmly welcomed at Lainston House Hotel for our 61st anniversary. We’re in our 80s and had forgotten to request a ground-floor room, but they quickly found one for us. The room was superb, with air conditioning, a modern en suite, free wi-fi and lots of extra touches. That evening they left a Happy Anniversary card and a small box of chocolates in our room. The food was delicious, and the service excellent. Every staff member was courteous and ready to help. The stay was expensive, especially the drinks, but the wonderful service more than made up for it.

We booked room service and champagne too. The food arrived hot, tasty and quickly, and the bottle was in our room when I’d asked for it. At The Avenue, the tasting menu was outstanding. Each dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented, like a little work of art. Breakfast had a good range of choices, and I could order just what I wanted. The service there was warm and excellent. This was our second visit to Lainston House hotel and The Avenue. Gerry showed us to our room and made us feel welcome. It had everything we needed and more, with a comfortable large bed, lovely linens, good quality tea and coffee, and generously sized mugs. The bathroom felt luxurious, with a spa bath, a large shower and a double sink. From arrival through to departure, they made the stay feel special. I can’t wait to come back.

We all felt very special, from the 11-year-old to the 80-year-old in our group. The staff were exceptional, and Lainston House itself is beautiful. We had two relaxing, enjoyable days, and the exquisite food alone is reason enough to return.

The Wellhouse made the stay especially enjoyable. Dinner was delicious, the atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, and they handled dietary needs without any trouble. Breakfast had lots to choose from too, and everyone we met on staff was warm and welcoming. We'd booked the Heritage Suite at the last minute for a Saturday night while visiting Winchester for the weekend. It was spacious and lovely, with vintage furnishings, a comfortable bed, a desk area and a little lounge with comfy chairs. The big bathroom had a freestanding bath, double sink and separate walk-in shower. It felt like a real treat and was worth spending a bit extra. I'd happily recommend it, and hope to come back in summer to see the gardens and grounds.

The team at Lainston House were so welcoming and helpful, both in the hotel and at the restaurant. They really looked after us, and it made the visit feel special. My friends had booked The Avenue for my birthday, and what a meal it was. Every course was carefully prepared and beautifully presented. We had a wonderful time and will be back.
