Hill Of Oaks

We stayed in Stock Ghyll Force and liked everything except the awful drain-like smell in the bathroom, so we kept the door shut. The shower pressure was poor, and after about 5-10 minutes the water would turn cold.

The staff were friendly and attentive as soon as we arrived, and they’d left delicious scones and cakes for us in the Waterbird Boathouse. We had an awesome holiday here. The rooms look lovely and feel cosy, with what you need for a holiday, and it was really quiet at night. I wish the shop were open more regularly, as we’d have liked to try the milkshakes, but it wasn’t a major issue. The location is hard to fault, and the lake view is beautiful.

The cottages are comfortable and very well equipped, in a great location with everything you need for a relaxing break. We were lucky to have such good weather too. You’ll love it.

We’re already planning to return to hill of oaks. Our glamping pod was just the right size for two and a dog, with all the equipment needed to make a meal in. There are also lots of lovely dog-friendly pubs nearby. The pod felt secluded enough to be peaceful, while the lake was busy with people during the day, which made for a lovely atmosphere.
