We loved the breakfasts, with freshly cooked choices and good local ingredients. The muffins available to take along each day were a thoughtful treat while we were out exploring. Andrew and Abigail also gave us plenty of useful suggestions for places to visit and eat, and Andrew shared a map for a scenic road trip around the Lake District. We followed it and found some beautiful spots we might have missed otherwise. That route was a highlight of our visit. We stayed last August at Ivythwaite Lodge, in the spacious, comfortable luxury double room in the attic. It was beautifully presented, spotless, well equipped and a peaceful place to come back to after a day out. The hosts made us feel very welcome. Both Windermere village and Bowness-on-Windermere are an easy walk away. The whole stay exceeded our expectations, and we hope to return. The hospitality, local knowledge, room and breakfasts made it memorable, and we'd gladly recommend Ivythwaite Lodge to anyone visiting the Lake District.

We only booked two nights and wished we'd stayed longer. The B&B is lovely, and you can walk to both Windermere and Bowness from its great location. The hosts are wonderful and happy to help with anything, and breakfast is so tasty. Our room had old-fashioned charm, with thoughtful extras like homemade cake and quality toiletries.

Breakfast was delicious, and we could either eat in the dining room or have a tray brought up to our room. We chose the tray, which was lovely. Andrew and Abigail were so friendly, and we can't wait to come back. The house felt warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Our room was immaculate and, like the rest of the beautifully decorated place, full of charm. There was plenty of tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits, along with the most delicious ginger cake in the room.

After long days hiking, it was great to come back to such a comfortable place. Everything was spotless and nicely presented, and the breakfasts were perfect with loads to choose from. Andrew and Abigail were welcoming, friendly and full of local tips about places and attractions. Special mention for Abigail's home-baked muffins, waiting for us on arrival and again at breakfast. Such a delicious treat. We stayed three nights at Ivythwaite Lodge and couldn't fault it. We'd definitely return!

It felt like staying at home, and was honestly better than being in a 5 Star hotel. The Ivythwaite lodge was beautiful, clean, warm and safe, thanks to Andrew and Abigail. We'll definitely book again when we're back in the lake district.
