I've never had the owner of a business selling LUXURY ACCOMODATION ask me what the hell I was doing in bed at 9.30 pm. I'd called after being woken by loud shouting outside and music from the local bars, then spoke to him face to face minutes later. H said I should be drinking in the bar because that's what he would do, and asked what I expected for £140 a night. I expected what the website promises, luxury accommodation. If I want to sleep in the bed, I should be able to. I didn't sleep all night. We were in room 3, which has no soundproofing, so you can hear everything outside. The shouting and music started around 9.30 pm, the music stopped around 1.30 am, and the shouting and people moving about carried on until 2.30 am. Police knocked on all the doors at 4.15 am, looking for a man who was abusing his wife. The road sweeper went past at 7.00 am and then came back the other way. By then it was pointless trying to sleep, as we had to leave at 10.00 am. I wish I'd read the reviews before booking. As another reviewer said, the owners should sleep in the rooms to understand the problems. The room floor was freezing, with no underfloor heating. The green light on the fire alarm call box flashed constantly where it was in my line of sight. The bathroom extractor fan isn't connected to the bathroom light switch, so it has to be operated at the master switch. Bowness used to be a lovely place, but it's changed and is awful now.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well furnished, and it does what it does very well. It's somewhere between a hotel and an Airbnb: there are no cooking or living facilities in the rooms, but also no reception or staff on duty. A very comfortable place to stay.

Nick sent helpful emails and texts with parking advice, lovely walks, local restaurants and more, and gave us plenty of support. We had no issues at all. The accommodation is clean, modern and perfectly located.

We booked four nights in room 6 at the luxury White House in Bowness-on-Windermere, and it was a delight. My partner and I had come to the beautiful English Lake District for a break and some quality rest and relaxation, and this retreat was just right. The team and the place were lovely. Our room was carefully detailed, with furnishings to a very high standard, and the bathroom had two showers and a copper bath. We couldn't have asked for more.

We don't get many trips away as a couple, so this stay at The White House was a real treat. The room was quirky, cosy and comfortable, with a lovely layout and decor. It was exceptionally clean, the location was perfect, and the place was wonderfully run. What a room! 🤩 I'd highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed. 🤩
