The separate upstairs and downstairs areas made this a great place to share with friends. Upstairs has a sofa and TV space, while there’s a large TV with Sky downstairs. The cottage was roomy, with a really well-equipped kitchen, and the setting was very quiet. Probably the best Sykes cottage we’ve stayed in. The hosts were friendly and helpful, though the 5.00 check-in and 9.30 check-out times weren’t listed on the Sykes website. I’d have liked to know that when booking.

We picked breakfast the night before, and each morning the owner brought fresh coffee, tea, juice, fruit, and whatever we’d ordered. I had smoked salmon and poached egg, and there were plenty of other menu choices. The owner was very accommodating. The room and attached bathroom were beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean, and the bed was comfortable. The grounds were stunning too. It’s the most beautiful B&B we’ve stayed in, and we’ll be back. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The converted barn has loads of character, and our room was spacious, though the floor creaked a lot. Finding the place was a little tricky, and you really need a car since there’s only one bus a day to the next city. Once there, it was a peaceful, relaxing stay with great service and a lovely location. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and locally sourced where possible. Highly recommend.

Bill was a lovely host, knew loads about the local area, and cooked a great breakfast each morning, with gluten-free options too. The rooms were lovely, and so were the views. Best B&B I’ve ever stayed at!

Bill Newman, the owner, is friendly and very accommodating, and nothing seems like too much trouble. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts are 5 star. It’s a lovely, quiet spot on the edge of a beautiful residential village, and reasonably priced as a base for exploring the wider area. Thoroughly recommended.
