Redwings Lodge Wolverhampton

It's a 2-star hotel, so I didn't expect much, but it was a pleasant surprise. The room was tidy and clean, the bed was comfy, and the cooked breakfast was more than adequate. For the price, it's hard to do better if you want to be within easy walking distance of the town centre. We're back in town next year and I'm happy to book here again.

The room smell needs sorting, it really stinks. And those beds are awful. Maybe the special blue mattresses are better, but I wouldn't book here again. If you're only coming for a Wolves match and need somewhere for one night, it might do.

The vending machine was packed with drinks but wouldn't work, and the staff were just as unhelpful as when I asked for another pillow. I was told there wasn't a single spare pillow in the entire hotel. The one provided was wafer thin, and the mattress was flat with springs digging into me. I hadn't planned to review the place, but they emailed asking for one. So here it is: avoid it. The whole hotel feels like an armpit, and the staff seemed completely uninterested. Between the bed, the pillow and the service, there was no support to be found. I'd stayed at the nearby Novotel and Premier Inn recently, though both were full this time. Pay the extra and try one of those, or stay home, or in a tent. This place is TRASH!!!

For one night, this does the job if all you need is a cheap room and no extras. It's near the city centre, and parking is £5 a night. The place is a bit rough around the edges. It used to be a Travelodge, so that's about the standard to expect.
