The staff deserve a mention too: attentive, capable, and a pleasure to be looked after by, especially in such a busy seaside spot. The restaurant feels like a real gem in Woolacombe, away from the tourist traps and half-hearted hospitality. The cooking was just as impressive. The lobster was delicate, and its well-balanced butter sauce let it shine. The venison and wild boar burger came with chutney that suited it beautifully, and even the salad had carefully segmented citrus and a lovely dressing. Nothing felt like it had been skimped on.

We were so glad we booked this for Sunday lunch while staying nearby in Lee Bay. It looks like a cafe from the outside, but the food and wine really impressed us. We had the roast beef, served pink in generous slices, with excellent vegetables. The service was polite, relaxed, and very good. I only wish we’d had another chance to come back, especially because the seafood and the rest of the menu sounded so tempting. We also enjoyed the open kitchen and chatting with the chefs while watching them work. Thank you.

The service made us feel right at home, warm and welcoming the whole time. We had Sunday lunch as a family: three roast chicken dinners and one beef. Both were delicious and came in portions big enough to leave us more than satisfied. I’m still thinking about the cauliflower cheese. Rich, creamy, perfectly baked, and the best I’ve ever had. We’ll be back next time we’re in Woolacombe.

We loved the wine list, with some lovely choices beyond the usual restaurant options, and had a great Pinot Gris with our meal. The special was lobster, crab and mussel spaghetti, which was fantastic. We also really enjoyed the oysters and venison scotch egg at the Beach House. We’ll be back and will recommend it to others.

Our dog’s birthday had just passed, and as he’s getting on, we treated him to a steak. The staff even offered him a bowl and water. It was great to find a dog friendly place for our Saturday lunch, and the team were warm and took good care of us. Our drinks arrived quickly, and all the food was cooked perfectly. The mussels were especially delicious. We’re looking forward to coming back next time we visit Woolacombe.
