It’s quiet and relaxing here, with beautiful grounds and countryside stretching all around. The barns are cute, though small, and worked well for a few days when we were mostly out and about. I was impressed by what they’d made of an old barn. It’s dog friendly and the staff were helpful. Take care driving up the road, it’s bumpy. Some areas are clearly being renovated, and I can imagine it takes time to work on such a large property. Some of the reviews here seem to come from people who don’t understand that.

We were shocked when we arrived by the corrugated iron sheet hanging from the arch like a "Sword of Damocles," and by the poor state of the outside generally. We wanted an affordable weekend away, and the photos on the website and booking sites made it look okay. The room was small but at least fairly clean. It had no window, so there was no air, and I woke several times feeling suffocated. We could hear every movement from the guests above, almost as if we were in the same room. The place might be fine if someone spent time making the yard presentable, but the huge potholes, crashed car, and run-down outbuildings were hard to get past.

Absolutely disgusting. There were holes in the caravan floor, the toilet seat was completely broken off, and wires were sticking out of the wall. We were offered an upgrade to a cottage, but that was just as bad. Bugs were crawling across the floors, the door was broken, and the bathroom was damp and mouldy. I was told we’d get a full refund, but I’m still waiting two weeks later. The woman I spoke to on the phone was rude and ignorant. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy stay here. It was terrible. I only gave one star because it wouldn’t let me post without one.

We couldn’t wait to leave. I can’t believe two adults are expected to pay for a room only slightly wider than the bed. I hardly slept on the sloping mattress, and was afraid its springs would impale me. It seemed extremely old and like the worst one they could find. You can only get in on one side, so prepare for gymnastics. The stairs felt risky to negotiate, and the glass facing the shared corridor wasn’t very opaque, leaving you exposed. With no window, you have to breathe shallowly to conserve the room’s oxygen. You might as well sleep on a park bench. Absolutely dreadful, it should be closed.

The location is beautiful, and the price was fair, since the place wasn’t worth any more. The property was run down and neglected. We couldn’t find the cottage because there was no sign and the directions weren’t accurate. In the end, we gave up and had to call someone to show us where it was. The cottage needed a deep clean and was in poor condition, though it could be lovely otherwise.
