Holiday Inn London Gatwick - Worth by IHG

The breakfast costs £19.50 extra, with no cheaper option, and parking adds another £15 a night. There are plenty of parking spaces, but both extras are expensive. My main problem was the noise from upstairs. On the ground floor, I could hear people stomping around because there seems to be no soundproofing between floors. It woke me at 2am the first night, then at 5am for the rest of my stay. I wish I'd picked a Premier Inn, where the rooms are much quieter and generally more up to date.

We left the car at the hotel for 8 days, and the staff arranged an early morning taxi for our flight. Metro taxi charged £27.50 one way. They suggested booking the return ride after we'd collected our luggage. The hotel is very close to Gatwick north terminal, which is where we flew from. We had space to leave our bags after checking in, then ate at the hotel restaurant, where the food was nice. Faiza checked us into the new part of the building and was lovely. The room was spacious and nice, but far too warm. The temperature showed 23.5 degrees, and we couldn't adjust it or get an answer from reception when we called, so we ended up opening the windows and didn't sleep well. I wish there were temperature controls. Aside from that, it was a very good hotel.

Breakfast was great, and the bar was lively with football on. The bus to the airport picks up outside, too. I slept better here than almost anywhere. Check-in went smoothly, though there was some building work outside.

On our return, Hollie helped us sort out the parking and get settled with a cuppa in the restaurant before we drove back to Devon. She even helped with wheelchair access and made us feel very welcome as a group. Hollie and the whole reception team were friendly and helpful. Before the trip, the reception staff had also done a great job organising taxis for our group of 24. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Worth before a big family Caribbean cruise, and it was a lovely place to rest beforehand. The staff, facilities and room were just what we needed.
