The Lodge at Prince's

After a beach walk with my dog, we stopped here for lunch. We got two sandwiches: ham with apple chutney and smoked salmon with creme fraich. Both were nicely presented and really lovely. I'd definitely come back.

We had a good time in the bar and games room. The rooms are very spacious, with a rack for storing golf clubs, and the location right on the golf course is perfect.

The welcome was warm, and every member of reception we spoke to was friendly and happy to help. Our room was more like a two-bedroom flat, with an en suite for each bedroom, which worked perfectly for our golf trip to Sandwich. The food options were great, and both dinner and breakfast were very good. There was a relaxing feel to the bar, a solid drinks selection, and great staff. The manager and his son, who seemed to be the catering general dogs body, stood out. We were a three ball and invited the son to join us at Prince's the next day to make up a four ball. I can't remember his name, but he came along and played nine enjoyable holes before heading to work. The Lodge is in a perfect spot for playing Sandwich's three courses, with amazing sea views and views of Royal St George's and Prince's from the back. It should be a golfing mecca. I'll return.

The hotel had everything I needed for a comfortable stay: a good shower, comfortable bed, tea and coffee, and even an iron. I stayed at the lodge for golf at Princes on Saturday and Sunday. We arrived early for a noon tee time on Saturday and had a great breakfast at the bar in the Clubhouse. Prices seemed reasonable for such a well-established club. We played two rounds, and the course was in fantastic condition. We skipped dinner at the hotel, took a cab into Sandwich for a great curry, then visited a few other pubs and got a cab back. All in all, a very good trip, and I'd highly recommend it.
