We went for a meal with friends before the football, and it was a great place to catch up over food. It’s a relaxed restaurant in its own right, nothing like the usual pre-match venue, which suited us perfectly. The menu had plenty to choose from, and everything we ordered was delicious. My mushroom and artichoke pie was really tasty, and the Brussels sprouts with garlic and sage might be the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the good selection of Welsh beers. The team had clearly read the notes on our booking and joined our reservation with our friends’, setting us up at a table for six in what felt like our own little room. Everyone was kind, attentive and genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. Thanks to the staff for a lovely meal.

Music from the bar downstairs came through speakers just under our floorboards, so we had loud music for much of the day and evening until the bar closed. There’s no lift, and the stairs are steep, with no one offering to help with luggage. Our room was tatty: chipped paint, broken window catches, one chair, a tiny desk with no lamp, and no luggage rack. The duvets were too small for the bed, there was a cold draught at the window, and the heating didn’t work properly. The tiny TV didn’t work either. The bathroom sink was so small we couldn’t fill the kettle. All in all, it was basic and really not a three-star hotel. I wouldn’t stay again.

The food is amazing, and the chef is excellent. Staff are so welcoming and friendly at this boutique hotel, right in the heart of Wrexham. I’d happily recommend the comfortable rooms, or just booking a table for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Any of those options works well.

I never actually made it to the hotel because of unforeseen circumstances, so I couldn’t use the room I’d booked in Wrexham. That evening, they texted me detailed instructions for getting into the hotel and my room for a self check-in, assuming I’d be arriving late. I thought that was above and beyond.

Had Christmas lunch at the restaurant today with five friends. From the moment we arrived, the attentive staff gave us excellent service, and the food was plentiful and very tasty. I’ll definitely be back and would recommend the place. Thank you.
