Durga greeted us when we arrived for our two-night stay and arranged off-street parking in the car park before handling the registration and payment. He was extremely polite and friendly, and his military background as an ex-Gurkha Soldier showed in his impeccable presentation. Our room was cozy and had what we needed, with a bed and pillows that made for a very comfortable sleep. The location was ideal: a short walk to the city walls and then along Walmgate to the centre. There was a nice Chinese Restaurant about 50yds away on the next block. We enjoyed going out in York and coming back to shower and change. Breakfast was lovely, with Durga giving us a list of choices; everything arrived well cooked and presented. The two nights were well worth the price, and we'll be back.

We had to head home early on Sunday, so we missed the chance to say goodbye and thank our hosts in person. They made us feel so welcome and explained what we needed to know about the area. Our warm, comfortable room had everything we needed, and breakfast was delicious enough to keep us going until teatime. It's a beautiful property, and a great choice if you want to leave the car behind and walk around York. I highly recommend it. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

We'd never been to York before, and the hosts gave us some great suggestions for our trip. Durga and his daughter made the stay special, and the place was spotless. They were attentive and always ready to help. It's close to the centre and parking was easy. We'd certainly come back. Thank you!

Barbican House made us feel very welcome, and the service was great. We enjoyed our one-night stay: the room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was very good. It's ideally placed for exploring the city, and we'd highly recommend it.

Barbican house is an easy five-minute walk from the city, and we can warmly recommend it. The owners were very friendly and kept checking that everything was all right. Our room and bathroom were lovely. Breakfast tasted great, with cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and orange juice, plus a choice of main course.
