Churchill Apartments

We slept really well in the comfortable, cosy beds, and the Aspire 3 apartment was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. York centre is only a two minute walk away, and it’s a good central location. The road outside is very busy, though, so it can get noisy. Security is taken seriously, but we had to enter codes several times before the doors opened, and the lift was out of order during our two night stay. If you need a taxi to go further afield, book well ahead because they’re not easy to get. Happy to recommend staying here.

The apartment was well placed for sightseeing and had a view of the Minster, but we were very disappointed by the bathrooms. There were no non-slip mats in the shower or bath. My husband slipped getting out of the shower, and our friend had major difficulty showering in the bath. When I raised this with the rental company, they said it was my responsibility to tell them on arrival that the mats were missing. Shouldn’t the cleaning staff have a checklist of necessities? We arrived late Friday and left promptly Sunday. It was hot during our stay, and the living room had no fresh air facility, just a fan. The kitchen was poorly equipped, without even a dish cloth.

The apartment was good value, with a bonus of parking and a supermarket downstairs. It was a good size and well equipped, with a nice bathroom, beds and living area. York Cathedral is very close. It was a bit loud because there’s a pub outside, and some might find the area run down. To me, it felt more like student-ville.

The location was excellent, but it was very noisy and we were really disappointed by how dirty the whole apartment was. We had to wash the crockery before using it, and the oven was too disgusting to use. Everything was covered in dust, and there was mould on the freezer door that had clearly been there for a while. I wouldn’t recommend it.
