We were in room five, so other rooms may be different. The B&B was decent, though there are things that could be better. Breakfast was included and suited me: toast, milk, fruit and cereal. The location was handy for walking around, and the room had the basics like a TV, WiFi, hair dryer, cups, a table, heating and somewhere to hang a jacket. The bathroom was the main letdown. There was barely room to shower, and water got all over the floor because there wasn't much of a barrier. The bed wasn't king size, which would've been fine, but one side of the mattress felt like it had a dip. I slept okay by avoiding that spot. Both WiFi networks were slow, though they worked for messages and websites. Pictures and videos were more of a struggle. Breakfast ended at 9:30, which felt too early.

The room was clean and warm, and the toilet was clean too. We had a good shower with strong pressure, and the king room was a good size. It's only a ten-minute walk from York city centre. There's a Chinese takeaway opposite and Tesco is five minutes away.

The rates were reasonable, and the room was warm and cosy. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help, even with the heavy flooding in York. The artwork in the room was thoughtfully chosen.
