We had to make up the kids' bed ourselves, which is why we're giving three stars. The apartment was lovely and centrally located, close to the bars, shops and the shambles. It was comfortable for two adults and a child, who slept on the sofa bed. There was a lot of late night noise from drunk people passing because of the location and single pane windows. Some people also sat drinking at the end of the alleyway and were quite loud. We didn't get much sleep during our two night stay because a fire door alarm kept going off. Stays York, the apartment owners, couldn't resolve it.

The flat was clean, comfortable and full of interesting talking points. There's no parking, but arriving by train is easy enough, with only a 10 minute walk from the station. The location is smashing, just round the corner from several of York's real ale pubs and the Christmas market. The market's not my bag, but toh loved it.

After a relaxing day out, we came back for a lovely evening chilling in this characterful, quirky apartment. It's a fabulous hideaway holiday let, right in the middle of everything that makes York charming and popular with visitors.
