The bed was very comfortable, the linen was excellent, and the shower had strong pressure. The hotel is basic, which is reflected in the price. There wasn’t an iron or ironing board in the room, but staff kindly lent me one when I asked. Parking was plentiful, and the staff, especially Nikolai, were very helpful, pointing us to good restaurants with good food. I was a bit disappointed there’s no restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast was offered as a bag with cornflakes, a pain au chocolat and a breakfast bar. Overall, a good stay.

We stayed for three nights in May and found it a good budget choice, with on-site parking and a convenient location, about a 5-10 minute drive from the Shambles. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and The Black Bull pub on site was excellent and clearly popular. We ate there, and the food was very good. We’d stay again. The problem was the shower in Room 107. The water pressure was very weak, and the tray kept overflowing. It wasn’t fixed during our stay, and it should be looked into for safety reasons.
Reception were really friendly and helpful, and the hotel was close to where we needed to be. The attached pub served tasty food at good prices, though it had a very studenty feel. But there was nowhere to get a hot drink or breakfast in the morning. We requested room make-up for all three nights, but got only towels and cups, with very little tea and coffee and an empty soap dispenser in the shower. The shower pressure was almost nonexistent. The rooms felt tired, dated and not especially clean. The walls were paper thin. I could hear people using the toilet, their morning alarms and every other human noise.
The big, free car park was handy, though the closest electric car charger is a mile away. It’d be useful if Travelodge installed one there. The location worked well for the university and the nearby student area. Our family room, number 120, was clean, quiet and roomy, with one double bed and two singles. The shower barely had any pressure, though.
