Cabier Ocean Lodge

The food was the highlight for us. We tried local places we’d heard about on YouTube, but the meals here were better, and we wished we’d eaten every dinner at the hotel. They were gourmet meals at an unbelievable price. Our room was only steps from the private beach, and the rooms were clean with fresh sheets every day. Service was great too. We’ll return, and we’ll keep recommending this place.

The ocean views across the property are stunning, and it’s lovely to sit by the shore or walk along it. The beach can get wavy and seaweedy, though. We’ve gone swimming, but on some days it’s not ideal unless you’re a strong swimmer. The rooms are basic but very clean, and the food and staff have been amazing. We’re still here as I write this, and we highly recommend the place.

This was my first trip to Grenada, and the welcome at Cabier Ocean Lodge made it special. They were warm and accommodating, including when I asked for plant-based meals. There were delicious options for me, and the taxi-driver they recommended worked out perfectly for trips to St. George. I couldn’t have asked for more, and I’ll come back.

We had a comfortable, easygoing stay. Our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen setup was useful, with a fridge, freezer, stove, utensils, and books. We also got a free room upgrade while occupancy was low. Bring groceries with you. We ate outside at the lodge once for lunch and twice for dinner, and the food was simple and delicious. The tuna and barracuda were especially good. Alexander and Abigail were kind and communicated clearly before we arrived. They even gave us a free lift up the short road to the grocery store and public bus route 2. They stayed available without hovering, which felt just right. The property is peaceful, with jungle sounds like the whistling frog and soft ocean waves. The beach is a short, easy walk down concrete steps, though there are no handrails, which could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. It was often empty, or had just a few people. The sand and seabed are nice for swimming. There’s a band of seaweed to wade through at first, but the water is clear after that. Mosquitos were active in certain temperatures, so bring DEET or another repellent. It was manageable and no different from what you might encounter elsewhere. We enjoyed exploring the property and walking down the road from Crochu, where we saw local fruit including cashews, citrus, bananas, papaya, cocoa, and a bull watching from a distance. The road was easy to drive; I think some earlier reviews came before improvements were made. It was a fun stay, and I feel sorry for people who only stay at mega hotels and miss the local Grenadian hospitality and home cooking we got here.
