Hotel Art-Seg

Even though we arrived quite late, the owner welcomed us with tea, coffee, and sandwiches. The room was clean and really spacious, and breakfast the next morning was lovely.

The beds were comfortable, and the young man at reception was friendly. That was about it for the good points. Heating only ran from 6 pm until 4 am, even though it was 1°C outside, and the kids woke up freezing. There was a grumpy older man around the place who served breakfast and ate beside us in a way that felt unpleasant. He also shouted at us during breakfast to pay for the room. The toilet smelled, and the seat was disgusting. There was no fridge or minibar, just a large TV and a couple of working stations. Breakfast was boiled eggs, butter, jam, white cheese, tea, and coffee, served in a kitchen with one table. It didn't feel like a normal hotel breakfast. We won't stay again.

The rooms have vaulted ceilings, and the whole place has striking old-world details: stone courtyard suites, a sweeping iron and marble staircase, chandeliers, oil paintings, and arched, columned entrances. There are lovely boutique-style sitting areas too. It feels like a hidden gem right in the city center. The staff are welcoming, though language can be a challenge and you'll have to manage. Breakfast was standard but good, with no menu.

The room and facilities felt about right for the 75 lari I paid. The bathroom was clean, with toilet paper, shower gel, and disposable slippers; there was also a TV, water, and decent WiFi. Breakfast was included, simple, and there aren't many choices around town. The central location by the park is handy. There's a good restaurant a minute away, also by the park, where beer costs 3 lari and dishes are 10 lari. The hotel itself is nice enough, but the owner was unfriendly when I arrived and asked to see my reservation outside. When I said I'd booked through bookingdotcom, he told me to cancel. He also gave me 3 lari too little in change. I wouldn't stay again.
