Hotel Akhaltsikhe Inn

The pool is used by schoolchildren for swimming lessons, and there wasn't any breakfast cereal. The hotel itself is clean and the beds are comfortable, but the rooms are so small there's barely space to open a suitcase.

The rooms offered no soundproofing, and the noise made it very hard to sleep. Breakfast was awful: the food didn't seem fresh, and some things looked as if they'd been made days ago and served again. The restaurant bill also changed from 68 to 90 after they realized I was paying cash. Service fell far below what I expected. Staff seemed to lack basic customer service skills, and one pool employee was unhelpful and falsely told me there was no massage service. If the hotel offers a service, the staff should be ready to help with it. I'm giving one star and hope the owner takes this seriously and improves things.

The boys and girls working here are the best, which is why I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 3. The hotel itself needs renovation. The overhead shower was broken, and the AC isn't controlled separately for each room, so I couldn't switch it to cool.

The manager's attitude was hostile, and the staff training was worse than anything I've seen. It felt like they were looking for chances to rip you off. The hotel is otherwise tidy, nice and well located. We also had to put up with a kids' challenge show at the hotel, with children and their coaches shouting all over the place for no reason. Breakfast was lackluster, with no labels or ingredient lists, so it was impossible to tell what was in anything. The dishes and cutlery were kept under the tables near the floor, which seemed unhygienic. The bar has a lovely coffee machine, and they know how to make good coffee, but at breakfast we got what tasted like burnt bean water. We booked through the website, which said the room included a sauna, pool and breakfast. Only after we asked that evening did we learn the pool was being drained and the sauna didn't work. Neither issue had been mentioned online or at check-in. I asked what else they could offer, and it took 1.5 hour and about a dozen calls before the receptionist found out the sauna could be switched on, but the pool was unavailable. I had to press them to offer something else. Instead of suggesting a couple of options, they kept proposing just one thing at a time, like cocktails or a single dish. I asked them to check the bar menu. They think they're a 5 star hotel, but this definitely isn't one. Not a five-star hotel, just an ordinary salobie!
